Floral Heart

This set of heart dies is really useful, going from the largest one on this card right down to a tiny little one.  I used the first 2 sizes for the main heart and some tattered rose ink around the edge.  The floral embellishment is a Honeydoo stamp which I've coloured with a mixture of peach and pink promarkers, cut out and added to the side of the heart.

I also tried it out in some purple/lilac shades and think they both look as good.

Cycling

A little bit of cycling fun very topical at the moment as the Tour de Yorkshire came through our village on Saturday.  We went along to have a look but they all went through so fast. It might never happen here again so we had to go and show our support.

I've used some of the lovely Craftwork Cards papers for this card, no stamping except for the Happy birthday flags at the side.  Everything has been made with the papers, including the flowers, with the exception of the die cut mat for the bicycle.

One Hundred Years Old

A card for a lovely lady who lives in the same Care Home as my Mother in law.  She is 100 this month and more alert and mobile than some 20 years younger.

To make the card I embossed some white card with an embossing folder for the background and shaped mat for the flower and added glitter into the debossed areas.  These have then both been matted onto some pink card.  The flower is from Honeydoo Crafts its heat embossed onto parchment using sparkling WOW embossing powder and I used the same technique for the banner and the sentiment.  I used a pink Promarker to colour the back of the parchment flower, flags and sentiment and put pearls at the edge of the banner and sentiment.  The banner and numbers are from Clarity Stamp but I'm not sure which stamp set I took the sentiment from now.

Birthday Chic

Hi, a card I made recently using papers and image which were a free give from a Making Cards magazine.

The birthday sentiment is a Lili of the Valley stamp and the flowers are handmade using some of the papers with pearls in the middle.

Flowers in parchment

Well after having had the parchment starter kit since last November I've finally found the time, and courage, to have a go after buying a a floral plate at the Northern Papercraft show in York. I won't say its my absolute first attempt because I had a practice with the starter kit (which was a disaster) and then did a practice piece similar to the one below, but it's my first finished piece and you have to do some practicing don't you. I'm not completely happy with the outcome but for a new starter I don't think its too shabby.

I really enjoyed making this card and have since joined the Groovi Design club because it's something I know I want to do more of.  

I am entering this for the Clarity Blog Challenge.  I hope it fits the theme of masking as I used the plate to extend the design and covered over both the outer frame and the word banner.  If I had been stamping the design I would have had to use a mask.  

The thing I've discovered I need to practice most is the white work because I feel I am being too heavy handed/impatient, and setting the word banner was quite challenging as well having to work backwords but it looked presentable enough in the end I think.

All about the girls

My first post for quite a while.  It's been a hectic few weeks with a few family matters taking up a lot of my time and having a kitchen extension built and new kitchen installed leaving little space for crafting, but things are nearly back to normal now.

This is my entry for the March Clarity Stamp Challenge. It's a card I made recently for my Sister's birthday using a Clarity sunray stencil and butterscotch and mountain rose inks in the background and  the Iffle Tower and lady stamps. I stamped and cut out the lady and placed her so that she appears to be standing on the letter tile outside the frame. The outer background has been done with some inks blended onto white card and embossed with a crisscross embossing folder and pearls added around the edge.

A floral bouquet

As this is my first blog of 2016 a belated Happy New Year to anyone who is kind enough to read this blog.

My first card of the year is a 90th birthday card for my Mother in Law.  Its a shaped card using the lovely floral bouquet stamps from Clarity Stamp and also my entry into the January Clarity Blog Challenge Say it with flowers.

Ive used some light blue card for the base, the outside panels are made by stamping the flower heads onto Clarity card with Versamark and then shading with some blue and pink inks to get the watermark effect.  I've decoupaged 3 of the flowerheads coloured with pencils onto each side panel and some die cut swirls and finished off using the Clarity letterbox kit.

 On the inside I stamped the full bouquet coloured with pencils onto some white card and although its not easy to see from the photo the bouquet is framed by a Clarity oval stencil shaded with pink around the outside.
