Well here we are nearly at the end of January and this is my first post of 2015, but I haven't been idle, far from it, and I've even managed to make a few cards, in fact I have quite a few birthdays to make cards for around the beginning of the year. My New Year's resolution - to try out more techniques and varied types of craft. I've already finished a baby scrapbook of my Granddaughter's first year (she's 3 now) and I've a huge pile of photos ready to scrapbook.
On the technique side this is my first attempt at making a background using cling film spritzed with water on top of a piece of
coated Clarity Card brayered over with Adirondack inks in lettuce and stonewash blue. This is something I've seen done on the TV before but was reminded of it I think on
Barbara Gray's blog recently. Moving the wet cling film around on top of the ink leaves some lovely patterns once dry.
I used the top strip to stamped the
Clarity Celebration stamp, first time I've used this. On the remainder of the card I stamped the line of trees club stamp and some foliage from the garden and birdhouse set around the edges. I stamped the blooming corner and border onto Theuver card, colouring and cutting out to create a 3 sided frame and mounted this onto the background with dimensional glue to give a 3D effect and hopefully the impression that bird feeder is hanging from it. The little blue tits are stamped separately, coloured with Promarkers, cut out and covered with glossy accents before I added them to the scene along with the little bees and ladybird. Both pieces of the picture are mounted onto some dark green card.
I hope you like the finished card, your comments will be very welcome.
